Intervention

The Alcohol and Drug Safety Action Program (ADSAP) is a statewide substance abuse intervention program for individuals charged with:

  • Driving Under the Influence (DUI)
  • Boating Under the Influence (BUI)
  • Related offenses such as suspended licenses

Because thousands of South Carolinians are killed or injured each year in alcohol- or other drug-related crashes, ADSAP works with offenders to reduce the number of crashes that result in death, injury, or property damage. ADSAP services are certified by DAODAS and are available in each of the state’s 46 counties.

State law requires all South Carolinians who are convicted of DUI to successfully complete the department’s ADSAP before they can be eligible for relicensing by the S.C. Department of Public Safety. The ultimate goal of the program is to improve highway safety by providing assessment, education, intervention, and treatment services for DUI offenders in an effort to reduce their risk of committing another DUI in the future.

  • For more information, please contact our office at (843) 546-6081.
  • Please bring a current official 10 year SC driving record (with the offense listed), a valid picture ID, social security card, Medicaid/Insurance card, and list of any medications.

You will see a staff member who will complete an intake with you to orient you to our agency. This includes rights and responsibilities, confidentiality, financial obligations, and various other policies and procedures. Following the intake, you will meet with a clinician who will assess your need for education and other services personalized to your specific situation.
